Our local Chinese food options have been increasing in an exciting rate, with hot pot restaurants looking to be a rapidly expanding category in San Diego. We have word that Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot, which landed a decade ago in Clairemont Mesa, is finally opening a second eatery here. The popular global chain, which has over 300 locations around China, Japan, the U.S. and Canada, specializes in communal hot pots that allow diners to cook their choice of meat, seafood, vegetables and more in broth (mild or spicy) at the table.

Little Sheep will be opening another outpost in Mira Mesa, at 9841 Mira Mesa Boulevard. Mmm-yoso has a photo of the storefront in progress, and Eater spoke to rep for the restaurant who told us that it should be up and running by the end of January.

Tasty Pot

Mmm-yoso also has news of another hot pot concept that will soon make its debut in Kearny Mesa at 4698 Convoy Street. Tasty Pot, which operates eateries in the Bay Area and Newark, NJ, specializes in Taiwanese-style hot pot and serves individual pots instead of a communal pots that come with various combinations of ingredients already simmering in soup. Tasty Pot will also offer an array of beverages, including boba drinks, and plus ice cream sandwiches made with cookies, macarons, and waffles.
