With North Park Beer Co. comfortably settling into its handsome Craftsman-inspired space, the two-month-old brewery is launching a food component to complement its craft beer lineup. Officially soft opening to the public on Friday, September 9 is Mastiff, an on-site eatery operated by Mastiff Sausage Company. Founded in 2013 by Jacob Bartlett and Eric Gallerstein, Mastiff began as a food truck and with its menu of housemade sausages and chef-driven plates, has become a popular fixture at local brewery tasting rooms. In March, Mastiff opened its first brick-and-mortar as one of the debut vendors in Liberty Public Market.
Running the North Park eatery for Mastiff is Jason Maitland, a longtime local chef talent who helped lead menu reboots at Indigo Grill and Firehouse American Eatery + Lounge. While sausages will be available, retailed via a deli counter and cooked up on a sausage plate, the new on-site kitchen has allowed Mastiff to expand and elevate its food offerings. Available from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, the all-day, counter-style service menu ranges from roasted bone marrow and Korean red pepper-glazed pork belly nuggets to sweet corn and ricotta ravioli, oxtail French onion soup and fries topped with harissa aioli and cotija cheese. Mastiff also has future plans for brunch service and beer dinners, and will develop its catering capabilities to service private and special events held in the brewery's mezzanine space.
