In 2015, a high-end sports bar concept expanded from its flagship in Ventura, CA into a 6,000-square-foot space adjacent to Petco Park. Social Tap Eatery thrived in its ballpark spot, and earlier this year, opened another outpost in Scottsdale, AZ.

On Friday, September 29, Social Tap will launch its second San Diego location near San Diego State University, with a grand opening party scheduled for October 21. The 3,500-square-foot restaurant, which includes an additional 1,200-square-feet of outdoor dining space formerly housed Bridges Bar & Grill patio and a 3,500 square-foot interior dining space. There are plenty of TVs — 21 60-inch big-screens for all the sports viewing you can handle — but the eatery also prides itself on offering a more upscale, well-rounded dining experience.

Longtime executive chef Jake Snyder's from-scratch menu ranges from filet mignon truffle tacos to Brussels sprouts and bacon and red wine-braised short ribs. And Social Tap's weekend brunch is particularly popular, featuring chicken and waffles, breakfast burgers and DIY Bloody Marys on Sundays along with the bar's 24 beers on tap and craft cocktails. Social Tap Eatery SDSU will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
