Urban Solace's Anniversary Week

Plus, Galaxy Taco's new guest chefs & Javier Plascencia heads to NYC

NORTH PARK— Urban Solace is celebrating nine years in the neighborhood and offering a week-long special to commemorate the occasion. From Monday, September 26 to Sunday, October 2, the 30th Street restaurant will be offering all its signature starters and cocktails for $9; choose from executive chef/owner Matt Gordon's chicken and duck liver pate, steamed black mussels or sesame-crusted pork belly and the bar's craft cocktail lineup which includes the mezcal-fueled Ode to Oaxaca and a cucumber mule. The Dungeness crab roll is the only item exempt from the promotion. LA JOLLA— Galaxy Taco is continuing its Taco Tuesday Takeover series with a new crop of talented guest chefs who will each be creating three signature tacos for their one-night-only kitchen stints. Coming up this Tuesday, September 27 is NINE-TEN's executive chef Jason Knibb, with Jose "JoJo" Ruiz, executive chef/partner of the Pendry's upcoming Lionfish scheduled for October 4 and The Lodge at Torrey Pines' fearless culinary leader Jeff Jackson on tap for October 11. NEW YORK CITY— The next local chef heading to the James Beard Foundation's prestigious Beard House is Bracero's executive chef Javier Plascencia, who will be cooking a dinner there entitle 'The Elements of Baja Cuisine" on Friday, September 30.
