Modern Times Fermentorium Cafe Is Go

Plus, 85°C Bakery Cafe opens in National City & iconic Italian Wines at CUCINA enoteca

MIDWAY DISTRICT— Much-loved Point Loma based brewery, Modern Times, has been roasting coffee as a beer ingredient in addition to offering its Black House blend beans for sale. Now, delicious pour-overs, cold brews, espresso drinks, and more await at the just soft-opened cafe concept within its Fermentorium tasting room. Current hours are Sunday to Thursday: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m., and Friday/Saturday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. An official grand opening party is scheduled for Thursday, September 22 and will feature a full coffee menu, special flights, plus delicious coffee-centric beers on tap. [EaterWire]

NATIONAL CITY— National City welcomed popular Taiwanese chain 85°C Bakery Cafe to the neighborhood on Friday, September 9. Located at 1302 E Plaza Blvd Unit 103 the grand opening celebration also saw the launch of new 85°C products, including the Sriracha series, Napoleon cake, and seasonal moon cakes. Chief Operating Officer Charles Wu announced that all three 85°C locations in San Diego County will honor a 10% discount for active and inactive personnel with a valid military ID. [EaterWire]

DEL MARCUCINA enoteca Del Mar will be hosting an evening of wine and food for its Icons of Italian Wine event on Thursday, September 15. Starting at 6:30 p.m. Augusto Ferrarese, CUCINA’s Verona-born Regional Wine Director, will guide diners through a pairing experience that features Italian staples of the sea and land, plus homemade pasta and formaggi from CUCINA’s in-house cheese program. Winemakers from Veneto’s Masi Agricola and Tuscany’s Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute will be pouring and discussing varietals, two of which will be paired at every food station.
