A new spot for seafood is scheduled to splash down in the East Village this fall. Opening in early October across the way from Petco Park is Como Ceviche!, a fast-casual concept specializing in variations on ceviche from the cuisines of Peru, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador in South America.

Como Ceviche! is a new partnership between longtime friends and travel buddies Johan Engman and William Lopez; Engman founded the bustling Breakfast Republic and Fig Tree Café restaurants while Lopez is owner and CEO of Alternative Strategies, a marketing communications firm that represents 40 local restaurants. Como Ceviche!, will fall under Engman's Rise + Shine Restaurant Group brand with Lopez as co-owner. Lopez said, "I’m anticipating great success with this unique eatery. It makes perfect sense that San Diego should feature a place where fresh ceviche is the focus."

The menu at Como Ceviche! will feature locally sourced, responsibly caught seafood in different varieties of ceviche that will be served in bowls, salads and wraps that eaten on-site or available for takeout.
