With projects spanning from the East Village to Mission Beach and beyond, it's getting hard to keep up with The Patio Group, the prolific local hospitality group with holdings that range from its signature restaurants in Pacific Beach and Mission Hills to the freshly opened Fireside by The Patio in Liberty Station.
A tipster sent over evidence of another The Patio project, dubbed Patio Express, that's headed to Mission Boulevard where the group currently operates Saska's Steak & Seafood and is prepping the bun-centric eatery Bao Beach. A spokesperson for The Patio Group said, "The Patio Group has a deep connection to the community of Mission Beach and we are excited to bring our new food retail focused concept to the neighborhood. All of The Patio Group brands will be well represented under the Patio Express banner, with fresh and seasonal grab and go items and amazing local retail products. Our offerings are perfect to take along on a beach picnic, stop in on the way to work or gather family and friends for a great meal at home. Note: There will be no alcoholic beverage sales associated with the property." This Patio Express is due to open in Fall 2016, with another outpost opening around the same time in the Crown Point neighborhood of Pacific Beach at 3453 Ingraham Street.
The group also just announced the addition of chef Adam Mali to its ranks. Mali oversaw the five cafes at Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters and was the executive chef at Mandarin Oriental San Francisco; he's now cooking at The Patio at Goldfinch in preparation to take the lead at The Patio Group's first out-of-town restaurant project, slated to open in Petaluma, CA in early 2017.
