Mexican eatery El Zarape will open a third location between its original Park Boulevard eatery and its larger restaurant in Normal Heights. Taking over the space last occupied by the recently-shuttered Casa Adams on Adams Avenue is Maritza Briceño, whose husband operates the current El Zarape outposts; calling this venture a "hybrid child" of the other two, Briceño says it will feature the popular menu items from El Zarape Restaurant on Park and the sit-down service and bar program of the newer El Zarape Tequileria.
But while the Normal Heights restaurant offers a full bar, the 30th and Adams version is limited to beer and wine, so the drink list will focus on varieties of micheladas, Mexican-inspired mimosas, and beer from San Diego and Baja. Scheduled to open in early October, El Zarape will expand on its signature menu items to include new dishes, from street tacos to rice bowls, that will be unique to this location.
