So long Michael's; the longtime lounge that used to be a salsa hotspot in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency La Jolla is in the midst of a thorough $1.8 million overhaul that will swap the pool table and sports bar vibe for a reimagined upscale restaurant called DRIFT eat + drink.

Due to reopen in mid-September in the recently renovated hotel, DRIFT's design is inspired by the Southern California coast; the new bright and breezy space done in blues, greens and grey with light wood, marble, and stone surfaces. The indoor/outdoor restaurant will serve an all-day menu that focuses on clean eating. Shareable plates, including organic salads and flatbreads, will be featured along with regional SoCal dishes and Baja-influenced plates; nothing will be fried and there will be a healthy selection of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. The upgraded beverage program naturally ranges from local craft beer to creative cocktails.  enjoy an elevated craft beer program featuring some of San Diego’s renowned micro brews and creative cocktails.
