The tipline and a Twitter post brought our attention to La Mesa, where a new restaurant will take over the space occupied for over four decades by Sanfilippo’s Pizza, which shuttered for good last month.
Touting farm-to-table sensibilities and the motto "honest food done right", Farmer's Table is scheduled to open this fall on La Mesa Boulevard. Its proprietors are both established restaurateurs in San Diego — Alberto Morreale opened Farmer's Bottega in Mission Hills and co-owns the Fig Tree Café locations in Hillcrest and Liberty Station while Vincenzo Lo Verso runs Hillcrest's Fresh Catch Fish Market & Grill and owns San Diego Dining Group, which counts Greystone The Steakhouse, Osetra The Fishhouse, and Osteria Panevino among its holdings.
