Rejoice, Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles Will Open in Barrio Logan

It's really happening

Yelp

After many months of rumors and speculation, Eater can share the thrilling news that we are potentially just a few short months away from having a Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles to call our own. The soul food-focused eatery, which has several locations in and around the Los Angeles area, has been on the hunt for suitable space to expand into San Diego.

Back in February, Adolfo Moreno of Terra Nova Realty shared that he was helping Roscoe's owners search in several local neighborhoods for a "4,000-square-foot existing restaurant space that has access to ample parking".

Today, Moreno came to Eater to announce:

"The Moreno family, proprietors of Terra Nova Realty, is excited to officially welcome the Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles project to an area near and dear to our hearts, Barrio Logan. We know that Roscoe's will play an important part in the further re-invention of the streets that have played such an essential role in the history of San Diego."

Roscoe's is taking a corner lot at 1678 National Avenue at Sigsbee Street that spans nearly 17,500-square-feet. Several small structures on the property will be removed to allow for an on-site parking lot while the larger main building will be renovated into the restaurant. Eater is hearing that Roscoe's could be ready to open by late 2016.
