San Diego Breweries Support Orlando Victims and Families

HUBWIDE — In response to the recent tragedy in Orlando, San Diego breweries teamed up to raise funds for the victims and their families by formulated special beer releases and donating the proceeds. In all, 17 breweries will come up with their version of an All You Need Is Love brew and sell to the public. According to Brewbound, “Participating breweries include: Hillcrest Brewing Company, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, Chuck Alek Brewing, Gordon Biersch Brewery, South Park Brewery, Intergalactic Brewing Company, Second Chance Beer Co., Belching Beaver Brewery, Wavelength Brewing, Border X Brewing, Bagby Beer Company, Amplified Ale Works, Mission Brewery, Duck Foot Brewing, Mother Earth Brewing, 2Kids Brewing Company, and AleSmith Brewing Company.” [Brewbound]

LE MESA — Former chef of Borough in Minneapolis Tyler Shipton joins the team at BO-beau Kitchen & Garden in La Mesa as executive chef. Representatives from the restaurant say the chef has assembled “the cream of the crop for his summer cuisine” and will be utilizing only seasonal products for the updated menu. [EaterWire]

BEER HERE — On Saturday, July 23, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., SILO in Makers Quarter will transform into a Science of Beer festival. Experiments will take place with UC San Diego Extension’s Brewing Certificate Program, as well as beer tastings from nine of the city’s top breweries. Food trucks, life-size beer pong, giant Jenga, and live music will also be on hand. Tickets are $25 and available online. [EaterWire]
