California-based concept Dog Haus brings its brand of gourmet wieners and burgers to San Diego this summer. Located at 969 Ninth Ave. in downtown, this will be franchisee owners Laura Zhang and Kelvin Cui’s first location with the restaurant brand, which has locations across California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Nevada, and Utah.
Co-owner Zhang says, “We’ve invested in a solid footprint in San Diego’s vibrant downtown and will be bringing Dog Haus Biergarten, which will have 30 number of craft beers on tap, a craveable menu and a welcoming, signature style. Our vision is to serve as a gathering place for locals and visitors. We can’t wait to open our doors!”
Signature dogs are all-beef, skinless dogs served on grilled Hawaiian rolls. Menu items have quirky names like Sooo Cali (arugula, tomato, fried onions, basil aioli, and avocado) and Downtown Dog (bacon-wrapped with onions, peppers, mayo, mustard, and ketchup)
The 4030-square-foot restaurant will have flat screen TVs for sports and an outdoor patio for al fresco dining.
Described as a “casual hot dog concept,” Dog Haus should be open by the end of July or early August.
