Steamed Bun Pop-Up Saturday at Devil's Dozen

Plus, the Lafayette Hotel turns 70 and Women & Whiskies lands in SD

LITTLE ITALY— The Kettner Exchange team, which is opening Good Time Poke and the tiki-inspired speakeasy The Grass Skirt in Pacific Beach, will be transforming adjacent doughnut store Devil's Dozen into pop-up shop 'Bao St. Buns' for one night only. From 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, chef Brian Redzikowski will be serving up a variety of steamed buns, ranging from $4 to $5 each, filled with everything from soft shell crab with cabbage and Vietnamese herbs to fried chicken with blue cheese and house chili sauce. EAST VILLAGE— Women & Whiskies is dropping into town to host an ever-so-stylish cocktail party on Thursday, July 30 at Moniker Warehouse. The ladies-only event will run from 6 to 9 p.m. and include bites from MIHO Catering Co. and craft cocktails from Barcon Cocktail Co. Tickets are $30. [EaterWire]

NORTH PARK— The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows is celebrating a milestone 70th anniversary with a party on July 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. The big shindig includes the transformation of HOPE 46 restaurant into 'The Soda Jerk', a retro soda fountain-styled eatery, plus a cocktail lounge with a USO-themed show, and several musical acts. Throwback attire is encouraged; the event is free to attend but the first 500 people to RSVP will receive a commemorative gift. [EaterWire]
