Sip Coffee & Craft Beer at Liberty Station's New Lifestyle Hub

Moniker General combines design with a new drink destination

Joining the new Liberty Public Market and Fireside by The Patio in the 'Arts District' section of Liberty Station, is Moniker General, which just opened in a 4,200-square-foot building across from Stone Brewing - Liberty Station.

Centered around two of San Diego's most beloved beverages — coffee and beer — the space includes a modern coffee bar powered by SoCal roaster Copa Vida, which debuted an eponymous shop in the East Village last fall. Moniker Coffee will also be featuring monthly craft coffee roasters, ranging from locals to Vancouver's 48th Parallel and Tweed Coffee from Texas, showcased via drip and single origin coffee with the beans available for purchase. For noshing, there are waffles from North Park's Wow Wow Waffle and baked goods from North County's small-batch bakery Foodie Folk. Adjoining the coffee bar is a 9-tap tasting bar run by 32 North Brewing Co., a member of the Miramar craft beer contingent whose satellite tasting room here is offering tasters, pints and growler fills of some of its most popular core beers, from the Landfall Berliner Weisse to The Olde Ship Irish Red. Coffee service runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, while the beer bar expects to shortly settle into regular operating hours of noon to 10 p.m.

Post-buzz, browse a carefully curated retail section of everything from apparel and home goods to bicycles and surfboards. The community hub, and all the custom-made furniture and design elements within it, was created by local design and development firm Moniker Group, which has a working warehouse in the East Village. Their souped-up showroom also includes a 1,200-square-foot courtyard, which will be available for special events and accessible to patrons of the coffee and beer bars.
