New Chef de Cuisine for Bankers Hill Bar + Restaurant

Plus, Pacifica Del Mar picks up a new chef & OB puts on a street fair

BANKERS HILL— BANKERS HILL BAR + Restaurant, has a new chef de cuisine, Tyler Nollenberger, who transferred south from sister restaurant MARKET Restaurant + Bar, where he cooked for five years under owner and executive chef Carl Schroeder. Nollenberger, who worked at Alinea in Chicago before arriving in San Diego, joins the Fourth Avenue restaurant's new lead bartender Zach Gray, an alum of Volta and Perbacco in San Francisco. DEL MAR— Pacifica Del Mar's new executive chef David Burke has added fresh dishes to the menu, including hamachi crude with cucumber water, crispy onion and sriracha, and white peach and burrata salad with prosciutto, arugula, and grilled ciabatta. Burke returns to San Diego to helm the 25-year-old North County restaurant after a decade in Los Angeles as a chef/partner at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse. [EaterWire]

OCEAN BEACH— The 37th Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off is coming up on Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Held on Newport Avenue, there will be free trolley service and free bike valet for crowds heading to the fest. This year's food-related features include the popular chili cook-off, a Bloody Mary competition and a burger-eating competition sponsored by Hodad's. There will also be a Beachside Beer Garden, food vendors, an artist alley, carnival rides and games, plus entertainment that includes five stages of continuous live music.
