Moonshine Beach Brings Good Times, Live Music & Dancing To PB

Doors open tonight

Good Time Design's 18,000-square-foot claim on Garnet Avenue is now fully complete; in February, the local hospitality group debuted Mexican eatery Cerveza Jack's in what used to be Fred's Mexican Cafe and tonight, launches adjacent live music venue Moonshine Beach in the former Typhoon Saloon space in Pacific Beach.

The country music-centric concert destination and dance hall is the beach neighborhood's version of GTD's Moonshine Flats in the East Village (a third is planned to open in 2017 in Nashville). It bears all the Moonshine signatures, including a shot chair, games, bars fashioned from shipping containers (there are three), and — a must for selfie-material — photos of hunky heartthrobs on the ladies' room doors. Country chart-topper Chase Bryant is the first big name act, scheduled to appear on June 5.

For now, Moonshine Beach will be open Thursday through Saturday, with doors opening at 8 p.m. for line dancing and lessons followed by live music until 12:30 a.m. when a DJ will spin until closing. The club will also pop open on Tuesdays so you can dance off what you consume at Cerveza Jack's Taco Tuesday.
