The new restaurant that we revealed would take the place of Croce's Park West in Bankers Hill has named the chef that'll launch the eatery later this month. Donald Lockhart, who was the longtime executive chef of Cusp Dining & Drinks in the Kimpton Hotel La Jolla, has moved on to lead Parc Bistro-Brasserie, which will reportedly open on May 18.
Owner Garo Minassian, a native of Montreal, has operated several restaurants in San Diego — most recently, Harrys Bar and Grill in the UTC-area. Minassian has redesigned and brightened the Fifth Avenue space, which includes lighter floors, a French-inspired mural and copper-topped tables in the bar.
Swapping his modern Mediterranean style at Cusp for classical French, chef Lockhart will oversee a dinner menu stacked with traditional French favorites; starters range from seafood towers to escargot, foie gras, beef tartare while signature entrees include steak frites, duck confit and coq au vin. Parc Bistro-Brasserie will serve lunch and dinner, and offer a daily happy hour with $7 bites including mini croque-monsieurs and mussels Florentine.
