Vino Carta Grand Opens With Free Food & Wine Specials

LITTLE ITALY— Vino Carta, Bottlecraft's new wine bar and bottle shop on India Street, grand opens this Saturday, May 21 with a celebration from 2 to 5 p.m. that will feature complimentary charcuterie and cheese, featured wines by the glass and special pricing on select bottles of wine. The wine tasting bar, which offers a range of wines by the glass and customizable flights, has launched a Friday happy hour hosted by industry wine pros and waives its corkage fee on Monday nights. It's open from noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. [EaterWire]

KEARNY MESA— Societe Brewing Company is celebrating its fourth anniversary with an epic Olympic-inspired event on Saturday, June 11 from noon to 6 p.m. that will feature teams of brewery friends from Modern Times Beer, Pizza Port, Berkeley's The Rare Barrel and more competing in a series of games for your amusement. Tickets are $12 and include a fourth anniversary commemorative beer glass and one beer of your choice; there will be new versions of The Bachelor, as well as other surprises on tap, and food available for purchase. SAN MARCOS— Local hospitality group Eat.Drink.Sleep. has named Danilo "DJ" Tangalin as executive chef of the signature restaurant, Decoy Dockside Dining, at its new boutique property Lakehouse Hotel & Resort which is scheduled to open this summer. Tangalin has been leading the kitchen at EDS' JRDN Restaurant in Pacific Beach and will continue to do so as he launches the New American menu for Decoy, which is inspired by the great outdoors and centers around wild game and fresh water seafood cooked in a wood burning oven. The two-story restaurant features views of Lake San Marcos from a second level dining room that will serve dinner daily and weekend brunch and the water-level Dock Bar with lounge style seating, a pizza oven and an all-day menu of shareable appetizers for sharing, pizzas and light entrees.
