A prominent name from Temecula's wine country will soon be seen in the Gaslamp. An application filed to the Civic San Diego indicates that Callaway Vineyard & Winery is seeking a permit that would allow for on- and off-site alcoholic beverage sales at a new tasting room planned for 517 Fourth Ave #101, which puts it across from FLUXX Nightclub.
Its wine estate in Temecula dates back to the late 60s when it was first founded by golf giant Ely Callaway; up until now, Callaway wine has only been available online or at the winery.
A rep confirmed to Eater that the project is in the works, and will likely open within the calendar year. Although the property in Temecula features the Mediterranean-inspired Meritage at Callaway restaurant, the downtown tasting room won't have a kitchen but will offer light food and snacks.
