All-You-Can-Eat Japanese Food Finds Home in Hillcrest

Chow down at H20 Sushi & Izakaya

Eater readers passed along word about a new all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant that will set up shop in the 5th Avenue space where D Bar San Diego shuttered late last year. Headed our way is H20 Sushi & Izakaya, which currently has two other locations in Southern California — Costa Mesa and Northridge.

The lounge-y modern eatery's menu is based on speciality sushi rolls, plates of fish carpaccio that include seared garlic tuna and spicy albacore, and izakaya-style small dishes ranging from shishito peppers to crispy squid legs. There's also chicken teriyaki, tempura, yakitori and udon, plus Asian-inspired cocktails, sake and beer.

But H20 Sushi & Izakaya seems to be mostly about quantity. Its 'premium all you can eat' menu (with a max time limit of two hours) includes nigiri, hand rolls, yakitori and a bottomless sake or beer option. According to 10News report, the restaurant may open by Summer 2016.
