Helm's Brewing Heads To Ocean Beach; Kickstarter For Beer Doc

OCEAN BEACH— Joining Pizza Port, Culture Brewing, Mike Hess Brewing and the soon-to-launch OB Brewery is Helm's Brewing Company, which has announced that it will open a new satellite tasting room at 4896 Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach. An offshoot of Helm's main brewery in Kearny Mesa, the 1,100-square-foot tasting room will feature 16 taps of house beer and is scheduled to open in mid-May, with operating hours from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and noon to midnight Friday and Saturday. KICKSTARTIN'— The team behind the 2012 San Diego-centric beer documentary 'Suds County, USA' has a second, larger-scale production in the works and just launched a new Kickstarter campaign to help produce the movie. Called 'Suds County 2 - The Boil Over', the film will explore the San Diego beer boom and look at local breweries and brewers' impact on the national and international beer scene. It'll also spotlight the growth of IPAs and the evolution of the San Diego IPA and Pale Ale. [EaterWire]
