The second brewery to plug into the Brewery Igniter project in Miramar soft opens its doors today; the 1,625-square-foot space, which houses a seven barrel brewhouse, was equipped by local developer H.G. Fenton Company. While Brewery Igniter's first tenant Pure Project, which opened in January, was an all-new concept, this is the second brewery and tasting room from the established Amplified Ale Works, whose flagship brewpub is in Pacific Beach. With this new system, Amplified hopes to produce an additional 1,000 barrels of beer a year, which will help keep the brewpub stocked with house beer and enable Amplified to distribute more extensively in San Diego.
The 12-tap tasting room will feature Amplified core beers, including Electrocution IPA and Pig Nose Pale Ale, but the new facility will also allow head brewer Cy Henley to experiment with more one-off brews; the brewery also recently hired a new director of brewing operations, Jeff Campbell, who came to Amplified rom Rip Current Brewing
With a grand opening scheduled for May 13, the Miramar tasting room's current hours are Monday through Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
