Duck Foot Bottle Release Party, New Brunch at Duke's La Jolla

MIRAMAR— Duck Foot Brewing Company is nearing its first anniversary and will host a party this Saturday, April 16 from 6 to 10 p.m. to celebrate the launch of 22 ounce bottles of their gluten-reduced and celiac-friendly beer, which will be on sale at the brewery and at local bottle shops and all Whole Foods Markets in the San Diego area. The first wave of bottles includes the signature Choconut Lust (chocolate hazelnut porter), The Contender (West Coast-style IPA), and The Looker (California blonde ale), with the barrel-aged Ukranian Imperial Stout coming soon. A portion of all proceeds from the bottle party will go to the Surfrider Foundation and there will be raffle and games with prizes ranging from beer to outdoor experiences. [EaterWire]

LA JOLLA— Duke's La Jolla launches new brunch service this weekend, which will be offered every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Among the dishes are the Hawaiian classic loco moco, which features a half-pound chuck, brisket and hanger beef patty, fried egg and adobo gravy over rice. Island flavor also makes it into the breakfast burrito, filled with kalua pork and eggs, and the Kahuna buttermilk pancakes served with guava jam and maple syrup. [EaterWire]
