New Brunch at The Cheese Store; Chad White & Friends Pizza Toss

LITTLE ITALY— The Cheese Store of San Diego has new Sunday hours — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — and a brunch menu that ranges from freshly-added dishes to best-selling signature plates. There are handmade plain or everything artisan bagels offered with toppings ranging from chive butter to brie and fig jam or smoked salmon with all the fixings, plus a parfait of locally-made yogurt, housemade granola, fruit and jam, a leek, dijon and gruyere quiche, and seasonal scones and canele from pastry chef Bianca Trejo. UTC— Season 13 'Top Chef' competitor Chad White is visiting from Spokane, where the former San Diegan is opening up Zona Blanca, a ceviche bar that will be attached to a new brewery. White is running a Taco Takeover tonight at Galaxy Taco, and enlisting Galaxy's chef de cuisine Christine Rivera and other chef friends to join him at his Craft Pizza Company in Westfield UTC on Thursday, April 14 from noon to 6 p.m. for a celeb chef "pie toss". Each hour, chefs ranging from Carnitas' Snack Shack's Hanis Cavin to Jason McLeod from Ironside Fish & Oyster and fellow 'Top Chef' contestant Giselle Wellman will be guest cheffing and slinging pizzas, with 15% of all sales going to benefit Just Call Us Volunteers. DEL MAR— L’Auberge Del Mar is honoring Earth Day with a farm-to-table six course wine paired dinner that will be held on Kitchen 1540's patio at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 22. Executive chef Nathan Lingle and the kitchen team will be cooking up a locally-sourced menu starring peas of all kinds, including chilled English pea soup, pea and morel mushroom tortellini and loin and shoulder of lamb with sweet peas.
