Oscar's Mexican Seafood, which operates three bustling locations in San Diego, is expanding into the East Village for its fourth eatery. The casual concept is nearing completion on its remodel of the 1,763-square-foot J Street space with patio in the ballpark-adjacent Diamond View Tower which housed TOAST Enoteca & Cucina until it shuttered last fall.
Owner Juan Bernardo Montes de Oca, whose North Pacific Beach outpost of Oscar's will be featured on an upcoming episode of 'Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations', tells Eater that he may soft open in the East Village as soon as this weekend. The new restaurant will have the same menu of ceviche, grilled fish, tacos and tortas as other Oscar's outposts.
The space was leased by Retail Insite's Jim Rinehart and Erin Cadieux; Cadieux shared, "Cruzan, the owner of the building, was extremely selective when it came to finding the right tenant to occupy this space. The company continually goes above and beyond in order to provide amenities to their tenant to create a live-work balance and Oscar's was the perfect fit as it brings something different to the neighborhood with a level of quality that was desired."
