There are lots of newcomers landing on Convoy, from the impending arrival of RakiRaki's new sushi burrito spot Pokirrito to the just-opened hot pot shop Boiling Passion, spotted by the mmm-yoso blog.
Locally owned, Boiling Passion seems to be a takeoff of Boiling Point, a popular Taiwanese hot pot chain with locations throughout Southern California – though none in San Diego yet. Though some eaters might be familiar with Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot, where raw ingredients are cooked in a communal vat of seasoned broth, Boiling Point's style is similar to Mira Mesa's QT Pot, where individual-sized hot pots come pre-loaded with a combination of meat, seafood, veggies, and more. Varieties range from Taiwanese spicy hot pot to Korean-style, curry, satay beef and Japanese miso, which can all be customized with extra heat or optional add-ons. A beer and wine license is pending.
