New Superfood Cafe; Revamped North Park Farmers Market

CHULA VISTA— The first of several planned locations for a new superfood concept will land in the Otay Ranch Town Center next month. Northern California-based Vitality Bowls Cafe, which specializes in organic açaí bowls and smoothies, but also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner menu of fresh juices, organic soups, panini and salads, will open its first area outpost on Thursday April 14 when the first 50 customers will receive a free açaí bowl. And through April 17, the eatery will be offering a buy one get one for half off deal on all bowls. [EaterWire]

NORTH PARK— The new edition of North Park's weekly Thursday farmers market hits the street today; relocated to the corner of North Park Way and 30th Street, the 3 to 7 p.m. market has expanded to hold 65 vendors and will feature live music and cooking demos from neighborhood chefs. It will also have an area for beer tasting where customers can buy growlers from local breweries. [EaterWire]

EAST VILLAGE— A super powered bake sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to noon, when a baker's dozen of San Diego's most skilled chefs will be gathering at LoungeSix at the Hotel Solamar for the first annual Chef-Driven Bake Sale to benefit No Kid Hungry. Sweet and savory treats from Azucar's Vivian Hernandez-Jackson, Crafted Backed Good's Francis Laureano, Nine-Ten's Rocio Siso-Gurriaran, Jsix' Cristian Graves and many more will be offering sweet and savory treats, with all proceeds going to help end childhood hunger. Admission to the event is $5, with baked goods available for $5 each. [EaterWire]
