Our earlier intel on a San Diego-centric episode of 'Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations', the Andrew Zimmern-hosted program that highlights a city's "not-to-be-missed legendary foods" proved legit; the show's crew was in town last month to film at several local restaurants.
Though no air date has been released, Eater has a preview of which eateries will be included in the San Diego show and which dishes were deemed "iconic". As expected, Mexican food ruled — the production team reportedly visited Oscar's Mexican Food for fish tacos, Lucha Libre for California burritos and Lolita's Taco Shop for carne asada fries. National City's Filipino community was represented by Tita's Kitchenette, while the Caesar salad was the focus of a segment filmed at Javier Plascencia's Romesco in Bonita. And our favorite local product, sea urchins, were featured in a visit to Poppa’s Fresh Fish Company at the Pacific Beach farmer's market.
So, did the show hit a bullseye or miss the mark when it comes to San Diego's must-eat dishes? Sound off in the comments.
