Cross-border collaboration is coming to North Park, where Tacos Perla is launching a new guest chefs series that will bring Baja culinarians into its kitchen for one-night-only special events.
The Tijuana-inspired eatery, which opened in June 2014, will be hosting acclaimed Baja-based chefs from 5 to 9 p.m. on each night, offering their limited-time original tacos for $3.95 a piece with deals on beer from local and Baja breweries. Confirmed for February 19 is Adria Marina, former chef de cuisine at Mision 19 who now runs the Don Ramen food truck and will soon be a competitor on 'Top Chef Mexico'. Tijuana taco king Oso Campos of Tacos Kokopelli, who was the consulting chef for Tacos Perla's menu, will be in the house on February 24 while the Valle de Guadalupe's much-heralded Diego Hernandez is scheduled for March 16; among its many awards, the chef's farm-to-table showpiece, Corazón de Tierra, was named one of Restaurant Magazine's 50 best restaurants in Latin America in 2013. More 'Guest Taco Nights' chefs will be announced soon.
