Solace Eat & Shop Pop-Up; Free Cheese Tour Stops in San Diego

ENCINITAS— Chef/owner Matt Gordon is hosting an eat and shop event at hiSolace and the Moonlight Lounge on Wednesday, February 24 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Complimentary bites will be served and there will be two specialty cocktails for sale, along with kids-themed goods from North County-based brands including Bink & Boo, Bowie James, Bliss & Baker, Plum and Sparrow and Narrow Gauge Designs. Proceeds from the cocktails and a portion of the vendors' sales will go to support the North Coast Auxiliary of Rady Children’s Hospital. [EaterWire]

FASHION VALLEY— The Cheeses of Europe, which has been touring the U.S. offering pop-up educational cheese tastings, is stopping in San Diego and will be parked in front of Macy's at Westfield Fashion Valley from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20 with free samples of over 30 types of French cheeses along with tastes of locally-brewed craft beer. The cheese, which includes everything from Brie and Camembert to Fromager d'Affinois and Mimolette, will also be available for purchase at discounted prices. [EaterWire]

PACIFIC BEACH— JRDN at Tower23 Hotel's final Feast With Friends dinner of the season will feature executive chef DJ Tangalin welcoming The Cork and Craft's lead chef Phil Esteban into his kitchen for a $65 five-course meal that will be paired with wines from local Fallbrook Winery. Scheduled for Monday, February 22 at 6 p.m., the menu for the evening includes wild caught steelhead trout with warm pickled potato, stinging nettle, seabean mignonette and preserved lemon vinaigrette, foie gras and rice stuffed quail with mushroom forrestiere, roasted beets, confit tomato and California red date gastrique and Mostra Coffee-encrusted venison with verjus raisins, smoked sunchokes, chocolate brioche and burnt orange.
