Our fried chicken fantasy is about to become reality. Eater has confirmed the longstanding rumor that Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles does indeed intend to open a new restaurant in San Diego. A source connected to the SoCal-based soul food specialists says that ownership is actively looking at local sites, and that Roscoe's could open here as early as this year.
Aiming to land in a spot within central San Diego that's equally accessible to locals and tourists, Roscoe's is working with San Diego realtor Adolfo Moreno of Terra Nova Realty, who shared, "We are looking to find a location that makes sense in San Diego. We have come pretty close, but as of yet no area has been decided on." Moreno told Eater that the family-owned Southern-influenced restaurant group is seeking a 4,000-square-foot existing restaurant space that has access to ample parking. We'll update as more information become available.
