Over the weekend, our tipline received several messages alerting us to some exciting Facebook chatter regarding a rumored local expansion for SoCal-based Southern food empire Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. First founded in 1975, the popular soul food restaurant outposts regularly draw lines and attract famous diners ranging from television and movie personalities to President Obama, who has a menu special named after him (three wings and a waffle).
Eater is still awaiting an official response from the family-owned brand, which currently has seven locations in the Los Angeles area, from West LA to Hollywood and Anaheim. But, a tipster says that Roscoe's is heading to the Hotel Circle area of Mission Valley and will reportedly be opening there in 2017. Have any intel? Whisper it in our ear.
