A fixture in Carlsbad since 1967, Tip Top Meats is a cherished institution that combines a European market with an old world-style deli and restaurant, plus a full-service butcher department with its own smokehouse.
Tipsters have been telling us about a new component that will bring the "surf" to Tip Top’s meat-centric "turf" offerings. Taking the place of an adjacent produce market is Top Choice Fish - Market and Eatery, a new seafood concept from the Tip Top team.
Soft opening in early 2017, Top Choice will work directly will local fisherman, purchasing whole fish and live seafood and processing the catch in-house for a retail marketplace that opens at 10 a.m.; the fresh seafood will be delivered seven days a week. At the sit-down eatery, diners will be able to take their pick of fish to be cooked on-site, or choose from a menu that ranges from housemade soups to seafood platters and fish and chips. Open for lunch and dinner daily, the restaurant will also serve wine and beer.
