Earlier this year, we got word of another ramen empire with its sights on a San Diego presence. And though it has hundreds of outposts around the world, and a handful in California, Ajisen Ramen told us that its new eatery that just opened in Kearny Mesa will likely be the only location for this area.
First founded in Kumamoto, Japan, Ajisen Ramen offers a large menu that ranges from specialty drinks and appetizers to sushi, salads, rice and noodle dishes, and desserts. There are many different styles of ramen featured, but its signature bowl is based on a long-simmered tonkotsu soup base and a variety of ramen noodle that is thin, straight and more al dente than its curly counterpart. The Clairemont Mesa Boulevard restaurant is now open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
