Vince Schofield returns to Whisknladle Hospitality. After leaving the restaurant group at the start of this year to take the lead at Searsucker Del Mar, the chef has rejoined Whisknladle Hospitality in a new role as its corporate chef de cuisine. Schofield initially signed on the the group in 2013, and helped Whisknladle Hospitality launch Catania as its founding executive chef. Schofield will now support corporate chef/partner Ryan Johnston and the head chefs at all Whisknladle Hospitality properties, which also include its Prepkitchen locations and La Jolla’s Whisknladle.
Paul Piscopo named hotel executive chef of the Gaslamp’s Pendry San Diego. The highly-anticipated new downtown hotel will have a San Francisco transplant at the helm when it debuts this winter. Piscopo has an impressive culinary pedigree, which includes most recently, executive chef positions at Michael Mina’s Pabu and The Ramen Bar. Prior to the Mina Group, the chef worked as executive chef for Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ St. Regis Hotel and W Hotel properties in San Francisco. At Pendry San Diego, he’ll oversee in-room dining for hotel guests menus and run two of the food and beverage concepts on site — the all-day Provisional Kitchen, Café & Mercantile and the gastropub-inspired Nason’s Beer Hall.
Eat.Drink.Sleep. Group brings back chef David Warner. A former executive chef at the group’s JRDN in Pacific Beach, David Warner has returned to Eat.Drink.Sleep. as its new corporate executive chef after helping to lead the founding culinary team of the East Village’s Bottega Americano. Warner will start with fine-tuning the New American, wood-fired menu at the group’s latest restaurant opening, Decoy Dockside Dining at the Lakehouse Hotel & Resort in San Marcos, before turning his attention to seasonal menu updates and refinements to the its other properties, including JRDN at Tower23 Hotel in Pacific Beach and Draft, WaveHouse and Cannonball at Belmont Park in Mission Beach.
