Getting prepped to unfurl its first location in San Diego is Flower Child, a fast-casual eatery from Fox Restaurant Concepts and its award-winning founder, Sam Fox. Local diners should already be familiar with another of Fox’s popular hospitality brands, True Food Kitchen.
Flower Child is set to pop up in the Flower Hill Promenade on Tuesday, December 6 in the 4,500-square-foot spot that formerly housed Sea & Smoke. The bohemian-styled space will feature an open kitchen, a plant-filled dining room, a special area for grab-and-go foods, and plenty of patio seating.
Founded in 2014, the concept is based on a healthy menu of mix and match dishes ranging from whole grain pita wraps to salads, grain bowls, and seasonal vegetables available with optional proteins that include grass-fed steak and sustainable salmon. There’s also a variety of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan items and an iced tea and lemonade station that changes flavors on a seasonal basis.
Flower Child currently operates three locations in Arizona, plus outposts in Austin, TX and Santa Monica. The Del Mar eatery will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with weekend breakfast offered from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Managing this restaurant is Mark Yost, formerly with Hakkasan Group, with executive chef Steven Molina (L’Auberge, Delicias) running the kitchen.
