AROUND TOWN— Local restaurant group Whisknladle Hospitality, which runs eateries ranging from La Jolla's Catania and Whisknladle to the Prepkitchen locations, is running its Day of Giving campaign today — Tuesday, November 15. All servers at its restaurants will be donating 100% of their tips to local youth-oriented non-profit SAYSan Diego, and the company's executives will also be contributing their salaries from today. The group is hoping to top its fundraiser from last year, which raised $9,000 for the charity. [EaterWire]

BALBOA PARK— The Cohn Restaurant Group will hold their yearly fundraiser, the Garfield High School Thanksgiving luncheon, on November 17 at The Prado. The 19th annual edition of the event, sponsored by CRG founders David and Lesley Cohn, features a banquet-style Thanksgiving meal prepared and served by students of Garfield's Culinary Arts Program with guidance from The Prado's executive chef Jonathan Hale. The luncheon starts at noon, and tickets are $60 at the door or $450 for a party of ten. All proceeds go toward the Garfield High School Foundation to fund educational programs and additional school organizations, with excess food being donated to local homeless shelters.
