Fast-Casual Mexican Concept Transplants from LA to the Gaslamp

Tocaya Organica will open on 5th Avenue

Yelp

A treasured tipster spotted newly-posted signs at the site of the recently-shuttered CAKE Nightclub in the Gaslamp, which opened just last summer. The same Los Angeles-based ownership group behind the nightclub is bringing down another of its concepts — Tocaya Organica — to fill the 6,000-square-foot 5th Avenue space.

A fast-casual spinoff of Tosh Berman and Amrou Manaseer’s upscale Toca Madera, a farm-to-table restaurant specializing in both traditional and modern Mexican cuisine, Tocaya Organica currently has Los Angeles outposts in the West Hollywood and Venice neighborhoods. Its everyday menu features healthy takes on tacos, salads, bowls, and wraps featuring organic ingredients, free-range and grass-fed proteins, sustainable seafood, and vegan options.

A rep says the Gaslamp eatery should be open by January 2017.
