Hot on the heels of its three-year anniversary The Hake Kitchen & Bar is about to undergo an ambitious renovation project that will add 2,000-square feet and 60 seats to the existing restaurant in La Jolla.

Mexico City-based designer Jorge Campos has been tapped to create an enhanced dining experience that will include a casual lounge area with a modern bar and a separate area for a relaxed take on fine dining, with increased outdoor seating and sweeping ocean views.

While diners can still expect to see many of the restaurants signature Latin-inspired locally sourced seafood dishes on the menu, the changes include the addition of an oyster and raw bar component.

The expansion coincides with a massive overhaul of the complex at 1250 Prospect, which also includes George's and Donovan's. The Hake Kitchen & Bar will close for renovations at the end of this month with a reopening date slated for Spring 2016.
