KINDRED Grand Opening Events; Fermentation Fest

SOUTH PARK— Newly-minted KINDRED is kicking off a four-day-long grand opening party on Thursday, January 21 with the launch of its weekly tiki night, Permanent Vacation. On Friday, there's a barrel-aged cocktail event featuring Old Harbor Distilling Co. and on Saturday, Modern Times Beer will be in the house tapping special releases. Sunday, nurse your collective hangover with a beer brunch highlighting a collaboration brew between the vegan restaurant and the adjacent South Park Brewing Co. [EaterWire]

ENCINITAS— The Fermenters Club is hosting the second annual San Diego Fermentation Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 31 at Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas. General admission to the family-friendly outdoor fest is $20 and includes access to workshops and demos from fermentation experts and a marketplace with artisan food makers, plus a take-home jar of fermented veggies. $35 ticket holders gain entry into the "Ambrosia Garden", an adult beverage garden, and 10 samples of mead, kombucha beer, wine and more. OCEANSIDE— Cult-favorite sushi spot Wrench & Rodent Sebasstropub has just debuted a Japanese-inspired addition to the space it formerly shared with Bull Taco. Chef/owner Davin Waite's The Whet Noodle is now open nightly, serving appetizers and ramen built upon housemade noodles and Waite's non-traditional, inventive broths. [UT]
