L'Auberge Del Mar Names New Chef; Enrique Olvera & Trey Foshee Team Up

Plus, Coronado Brewing Company expands.

DEL MAR— The L'Auberge Del Mar has announced a new executive chef for its signature restaurant, KITCHEN 1540; Culinary Institute of America Hyde Park grad Nathan Lingle, who's spent more than 20 years in the industry, will oversee all culinary operations at the Destination Hotel property. Replacing Brandon Fortune, Lingle's last post was as executive chef and food and beverage director at The Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia. The restaurant team also includes executive sous chef Laura Simpson-Eng, who helped to open the Vegas outpost of Jöel Robuchon. [EaterWire]

LA JOLLA— Internationally-admired chef Enrique Olvera (Cosme in NYC, Mexico City's Pujol) will be coming to San Diego on Sunday, October 18 to join the accomplished Trey Foshee at his new Galaxy Taco in La Jolla for a one-night-only event from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of Chino Farm's Good Earth/Great Chefs series. Olvera will be autographing copies of his book, Mexico From the Inside Out and collaborating with Foshee on a special taco and drink menu; tickets are $90 and include a signed book plus food and drink; call 858-228-5655 for tickets. BAY PARK— Coronado Brewing Company is in the midst of rolling out a multi-million dollar expansion plan at their Knoxville Street facility that will eventually increase their production capacity to 65,000 barrels. August brought the addition of four fermenters and this month, they'll move some of their current operations into an adjacent building that has the potential to be a future new brewhouse; the brewery has also announced that they will be installing a canning line, with plans to start packaging in cans by early 2016.
