Green Flash Brewing Co.'s Chuck Silva announced today that he has left his posts as Brewmaster and VP of Brewing Operations after almost 11 years with the San Diego brewery. During his tenure, the acclaimed brewery expanded into its current production headquarters in Mira Mesa, announced a brewery project on the East Coast and in May, launched a barrel aging facility, Cellar 3, in Poway.
The acclaimed brewer is decamping for the Central Coast, where with wife Mary Jo, Silva plans to open his own brewery, Silva Brewing, in a yet-undetermined location near his hometown, San Luis Obispo.
In a statement, Green Flash CEO and Co-Founder Mike Hinkley said, "Green Flash will be forever grateful for all of Chuck's contributions to the organization. Over the past 11 years, he has created the recipes for wonderful beers that have captivated our fans and helped make Green Flash the company it is today." Erik Jensen, who has been Green Flash's Head Brewer for four years, has been promoted to Brewmaster.
