Greek Frozen Yogurt Concept Opening First California Store Here

Chillbox is coming to the East Village.

Is frozen yogurt still a thing? The company behind Chillbox Greek Frozen Yogurt is hoping so. First founded in Greece in 2011, the brand now spans the globe with more than 70 locations in 11 countries. Last year, the first U.S. franchise opened in Manhattan and by the end of 2015, the chain should have several shops in California, with the first West Coast location to open in San Diego.

A tipster noticed a Chillbox sign pop up on Park Boulevard, just around the corner from Petco Park; a company rep says the East Village store should be open by mid-to-late November, with locations in Orange County and Sacramento to follow. Chillbox specializes in Greek frozen yogurt in flavors ranging from strawberry and mango to biscuit and hazelnut praline that can be topped with everything from fruit and candy to sauces; they also make close to 20 flavors of ice cream and sorbet, plus smoothies, coffee, tea and other beverages.
