Catering and events company 24 carrots, which covers Southern California, is opening the first San Diego location of its brick-and-mortar eatery Bistro 24; there are currently five existing bistro outposts in the Orange County area. It'll take up residence in a 3,000-square-foot space at The Irvine Company's new office tower, One La Jolla Center (4655 Executive Drive). The building will officially debut in September, but the restaurant is not slated to open until early 2016.
Designed as an amenity for the office building much like Brian Malarkey's nearby Green Acre and Farmer & the Seahorse, Bistro 24 offers a dining option (and free Wi-Fi) for area workers but is also open to the public for breakfast and lunch; it'll operate Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The menu ranges from breakfast sandwiches and coffee bar drinks to organic salads, gourmet sandwiches, grass-fed beef burgers, flatbreads and entrees, including fish tacos and steak frites, during the all-day lunch service.
