Cowboy Star Collab Beer Dinner; Yard House Opening in Mission Valley

EAST VILLAGE— Cowboy Star Restaurant & Butcher Shop's executive chef Victor Jimenez and chef de cuisine Chris Osborne will host two guest chefs for a Ballast Point beer pairing dinner scheduled for Tuesday, September 14 at 6:30 p.m. Jimenez and Osborne will be joined at the modern steakhouse by Katherine Humphus (Kat's Kitchen Collective) and Colin MacLaggan, Ballast Point's executive chef; tickets are $65. MISSION VALLEY— 13 years after first opening in the Gaslamp, the Yard House is launching a second San Diego location in Westfield Mission Valley. Operating for lunch, dinner and late-night dining, the 11,000-square-foot restaurant with 130 beer taps is set to launch on Saturday, September 19. [EaterWire]

EMBARCADERO— Sally’s Seafood on the Water just announced that new chef de cuisine Jay Payne has revamped the menu of the bayfront restaurant. Payne, a Culinary Institute of America alum with 20 years of cooking under his belt, including an executive chef role at Cafe Japengo, has brought his experience with Asian fusion to new dishes that include seared diver scallops with warm soba noodle salad with peanuts and mango, sautéed king oyster mushrooms, braised leeks, curried crispy rice noodles and carrot-misoyaki. The chef will see the restaurant through a planned refresh, scheduled for 2016 as part of the Grand Hyatt San Diego's remodel. [EaterWire]
