Pop-Up Dinner at Sycamore Den; Beer & Bacon at Quad AleHouse

Plus, Encinitas hosts an Oktoberfest.

NORMAL HEIGHTS— Sycamore Den and A MIHO Experience are officially launching their cocktail catering collaborationBarçon Cocktail Co., this Wednesday, August 26 with a pop-up event starting at 6 p.m. at the Adams Avenue bar. One choice of Barçon cocktail, including a classic Old Fashioned, Spicy Paloma or Strawberry Mule, comes with a $5 donation to local nonprofit ARTS while MIHO's The Vetted Table will be offering dishes for purchase, ranging in cost from $2 to $12; served dim-sum style, the plates will range from sauvignon blanc-braised razor clams and garlic-crusted spot prawns to roasted pheasant with madeira-date puree, ancho chile-roasted peaches and nasturtium. GASLAMP— Quad AleHouse chef Brandon Brooks is welcoming Toronado's Nate Soroko into his kitchen for a special collaborative bacon-centric dinner scheduled for Thursday, September 3 at 8 p.m. Each course will be paired with a Firestone Walker beer; the menu includes the brewery's Heldorado with fig-basted pork belly, New Mexico chili prawns and corn soufflé plus their Opal saison matched with bacon pâté, chicken liver mousse, honeycomb chutney, vadouvan granola, pickled apples and basil blossoms. ENCINITAS— The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce is expecting over 25,000 people at its annual Oktoberfest celebration, scheduled for September 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 200 vendors will be at the event, which will feature a local beer garden with Green Flash, Culture, Ballast Point and Latitude 33 among the San Diego breweries represented. There will also be German-themed entertainment, from music (oompah bands!) to dancing, plus German food booths. [EaterWire]
