T S Restaurants' second San Diego restaurant (they also run Jake's Del Mar) is slated to open in October in the recently-renovated but long-dormant Top of the Cove space on Prospect Street.
Duke's La Jolla, which will be the sixth Duke's for the company, will bring a Hawaiian-inspired menu to the two-level restaurant with sweeping ocean views. Earlier this year, Duke's signed up San Diego-born Anthony Sinsay to lead the kitchen as executive chef and the restaurant has just announced their new chef de cuisine, Dave Underwood. Prior to arriving in San Diego in 2011, Underwood spent four years at San Francisco's Michelin-starred Gary Danko where he held various posts including butcher and sous chef. Locally, the chef cooked at Solace & The Moonlight Lounge in Encinitas and worked with Sinsay at Del Mar's Burlap, now Searsucker; Sinsay said, "I’m so excited to reunite with Dave. His leadership skills will resonate with our culinary staff and ensure each guest receives Duke’s signature dining experience."
