The growing number of food concepts under The Patio Group umbrella, which includes its eponymous restaurants, the new Fireside by The Patio, the Front Porch stores, Saska's at the Beach and Swell Cafe, has added another local company to its family of businesses.
Andrea's Truffles, founded in 2011 by chef Andrea Davis, a California Culinary Academy alum who cooked in several local restaurant kitchens, is now part of The Patio Group. Davis, whose handcrafted truffles are sold at eateries throughout San Diego, from Carnitas' Snack Shack in North Park to Oceanside's Wrench and Rodent, will remain creative director of Andrea's Truffles. She'll move her operations into The Patio's new commissary kitchen, continuing to supply sweets to The Patio, a longtime client, while growing her wholesale and retail business. Davis says she'll also expand her product line— first up is an energy bar that will debut soon.
The Patio owner Gina Champion-Cain, who's become a mentor to Davis, tells Eater that she has big plans for the partnership and says that the group is currently developing another new retail concept that would include the confectionery company.
