Plumeria Owner Opens Pescatarian Thai Eatery on Adams

Welcome Chi Extraordinary Kitchen.

Several nice tipsters alerted us to the newly-minted Chi Extraordinary Kitchen, which soft opened this week on Adams Avenue. This is owner Pimwara Thongchua's third local Thai-inspired eatery; she also runs Asian Bistro in Hillcrest and Park Boulevard's Plumeria.

Eaters who frequent Plumeria for its vegetarian menu are covered here; many dishes, from curries to noodles, are available with vegetables, tofu or a mix of fish and shellfish. Other specialties are decidedly seafood-focused, including larb made from filet of sole, a grilled shrimp salad with lemongrass dressing and a stir fry of shrimp, mussels, scallops and squid with fresh chili, garlic, bell pepper and green peppercorns.

Open for lunch and dinner, Chi Extraordinary Kitchen is serving wine, sake and craft beer; the opening lineup includes Modern Times Beer's Blazing World, Maui Brewing's Coconut Porter and Eel River's Organic California Blonde Ale.
